Eta Nu Chapter at Sacred Heart University

Kappa Delta

Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

Before I begin, I want to thank you for sharing the precious gift of your daughter with the Sacred Heart University Eta Nu Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority. Every member of our organization makes a difference, and it makes me so proud to see the advances that your daughter has made since her initiation. My name is Bella Tamburri and I am the current Vice President: Public Relations of Eta Nu. I'm from Livingston, NJ, major in Communications with a focus in Public Relations, and have the best parents in the world! Without them I wouldn't be where I am today, achieving the goals I have been able to reach or even be able to be apart of the greatest chapter at such an amazing university. I have a deep commitment to the improvement of Kappa Delta and wanted to include KD families in our goals. If interested, please take a moment to review what we've already accomplished and what is to come this year.

Academics: Eta Nu strives each semester for a high GPA, and we always earn it! Out of the seven sororities here at Sacred Heart, I am proud to say we are always among the highest-ranking GPA's, year after year. Each sister must maintain a 2.70 GPA to be a fully active member. Although we do not require a specific amount of hours in the library, our sisters take it upon themselves to spend time in there anyway and get whatever it is done. Our study hour log in the book in the library is filled every day, and this says a lot about our sisters and their dedication to their studies  Academic achievement is our #1 priority so we are very strict in monitoring GPA's every semester. Please congratulate your daughter on her exceptional achievements and continue to encourage academic excellence.

Kappa Delta Events: Beyond philanthropic events this semester, Eta Nu will host several outstanding functions! Every fall we enjoy our date function, Draft-A-Date and in the spring we have a formal. Throughout the year we are sure to hold various sisterhood events throughout each semester to be sure that somewhere in between all of our busy schedules we are able to spend time together in doing fun activities with one another.

Philanthropic Efforts: Each spring semester we host our Shamrock event, entitled, "Shamrock the Runway", which is a runway show that includes all Greek organizations at SHU, including Kappa Delta. This year and continuing years to come, this event is now even more particularly special because it has now been renamed as "Caitlin's ShamROCK the runway" in dedication to all of her hard work and love placed into this event in the past as well to community service in general. All proceeds will go to our philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America. Last year we were able to raise approximately 54 thousand dollars to prevent child abuse and this is truly incredible in knowing how much change the money we have raised will bring. Girl Scouts of the USA is another national philanthropy we take part in, and we host two events each semester with girl scouts of varying ages. We are so excited to make a positive impact on the lives of younger girls in our community.

Campus Involvement: At Sacred Heart, we are extremely lucky to have such a tight-knit Greek life community. Panhellenic continues to work extremely hard to build a strong connection between all of the chapters here on campus. Each sorority and fraternity gladly attend other's philanthropy events and other opportunities such as campus-wide sisterhood functions, which provide connections and friendships that branch outside of just our chapter. Other than greek life, our sisters love attending sports events as well as campus events in which are open for everyone to attend together. This enables the little extra push some of us need to get involved no just in Greek life activities, but on campus and in the SHU community.

Bill Highway Update: Kappa Delta uses Billhighway for all of our financial needs. Your daughter has her own account, which she set up with us earlier this year. Each month your daughter will have a statement sent to her email, and the statement can be accessed on her personal account including past statements. The statement includes an itemized bill, so you can see exactly where your money is going. If you wish to have the statement sent to you as well, please contact our Vice President Finance, Madeline Girandola, etanufinance@gmail.com

Again, we appreciate the time you've dedicated to the Eta Nu Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority. We hope you recognize the strides we're making to improve your daughter's academic, social, and philanthropic efforts at Sacred Heart University. Your support has been the backbone of our growth and we can't thank you enough. Please feel free to contact me, or any other council member, at any time, if you have concerns.

Sincerely,

Bella Tamburri
